Baltimore Recovery Corps

Maryland CHI is very proud to be the new home for the Baltimore Recovery Corps (BRC), a program launched as part of the Mayor Rawlings-Blake’s Step Up Baltimore community service initiative. Through the BRC, the Penn North Recovery Community Center is developing a core group of volunteer outreach workers known as Peer Recovery Advocates (PRAs) to support the recovery efforts of local treatment providers, outreach centers, and supportive housing programs with the goals of increasing the number of people in treatment, improving treatment outcomes, and increasing an individual’s chance of a successful transition from treatment to long-term recovery.

In the process, PRAs are being trained and prepared for state certification and potential reimbursement for services that they provide. Ultimately, this program will change the face of recovery in Baltimore City, provide thousands of hours of community service, help thousands in recovery, and create an entirely new career path for individuals in recovery.
